Curriculum Structure
Each student book covers one semester of instruction, although teachers and parents could adapt progress to their children.
Student book 1 builds a strong phonics foundation. By the end of the first semester, students can decode letter combinations into sounds systematically and confidently.
Student book 2 covers most essential vowel and consonant combinations in English. It is the longest book in the series, but lessons build on familiar sounds so progress feels steady rather than overwhelming.
Student book 3 brings students to full phonemic mastery. We introduce one of Octophonics’ key innovations, our system of word endings. Word endings help students recognize recurring syllable patterns and decode longer, more complex words.
Student book 4 completes the Octophonics journey by bridging the gap between phonics and real-world reading. Students become true Phonics Masters who can decode any marked word with ease and carry that confidence into every subject they study.
